The Colonel and I went on a little trip!
Every year the youth group at church go on a retreat.
This year BOTH our children went...so we decided to go away as well.
We went to Lancaster, PA, just under 2 hours from our home.
Lancaster is famous for its large population of Amish people.
Here's the hotel we stayed at...
Entry...
The Colonel on his computer.
Work did call him a few times...
The view from our room...
Another view...
A museum we visited...
You all remember that I'm married to a Colonel?
Yes, there he is waiting for me to take the picture so I can join
him in this interesting museum...
A picture of some of the displays...
I really was trying to get the museum with the canon and all of a sudden this
Amish buggy came by and just happened to get in my picture!
We had a great time!
We did tons of shopping, or I should say, looking.
I only purchased two things, a cookbook and a painting to
hang over our fireplace.
We did a little Christmas shopping for family as well.
We spent Friday night watching a few videos and
enjoying some pizza in our room.
Basically we just relaxed and had a wonderful time.
Enjoy your Monday!

Hi Lois,
Thanks for sharing pics from your trip. My family traveled to Lancaster in 2000 and we saw a play at Sight & Sound Theater...the Noah's Ark production! Really special.
I also went to school in PA. In the town of Carlisle, mid '70s.
Hope your week is going well.
Sending hugs and blessings your way!

Hi Lois, Lancaster is like home away from home for us! We love it and I've done my share of shopping there. One time my sister and I bought so much stuff we couldn't fit it all in 2 SUV's!! My favorite shop is The Olde Mill House Shop. It right behind the outlet mall. Did you get to see a show at the Sight and Sound theatre? Your hotel looks beautiful. Where was it located? So glad you both had some relaxation time together! Hugs, Loretta

Oh I am so happy that you and the Colonel had a chance to get away by yourselves and enjoy each other. Great pictures! We live about an hour away from Ohio's Amish community. We enjoy going there at least once a year to relax...can't you just feel the stress leaving your body in the peaceful countryside? To say nothing of all the great FOOD! We need to remember to pray for the Amish people. They are bound in tradition and religious practices. They do not teach the freedom of knowing the assurance of salvation in Christ and believe it is presumptuous to say that one might "know God" personally.

Oh what a lovely trip!! Sounds like so much fun 🙂 I'm glad the two of you got away. It looks very romantic. I stayed with an Amish friend occasionally when I was working nights in a nearby city. I ended up getting into a whole pack of trouble with the male leaders!! Wacky women who drive and have vivid imaginations don't mesh well in that community. Anyway, I helped her with her secret courtship. She was a widow with 4 kids and had fallen in love with a man who was staying there. He didn't want to vow his life to the community and they wouldn't let him marry her unless he did. Oh it was an exciting romance!! They eventually married, left and have had about 4 more kids together. She just called me a few months back. Well, enough of my dramas. I'm so glad you had such a fabulous time!!

Looks like you had a wonderful weekend. So glad you and the Colonel could have a get-away before his deployment.
In ref. to your comment, "meep" is just a senseless word. Beaker from "The Muppets" made it popular.

I just love Lancaster and I especially like to eat at some of the family style Amish food type places out there. Now the buggys are so cute and I especially like to look at all the hand sewn quilts for sale with all the colors. I still have photos of my kids when they were little riding on the train out there. Glad you were able to get away and relax in such a beautiful area of our country.

Gosh, that Edged Weaponry Museum is fantastic! I just can't stare at edged weapons enough. *smile*
I feel bad that you will soon be apart from your Colonel. It must give a bittersweet feeling to each day. I hope it isn't tacky to mention it.
