Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree...

On New Year's Day our family did something we haven't done in YEARS.

We made the drive into "THE CITY" to see the beautiful
Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

The Colonel and I grew up in Queens, NY and love New York City.
When our kids were little, we lived in Paterson, NJ and would often make the
drive into the city to see the tree.

The kids and me back in 2001...

The drive in through the Lincoln Tunnel, thankfully was NOT crowded.
Years ago when I worked in the city, I used to take a bus to get to work every day
and there were some days we would sit in the tunnel for over an hour...

It now costs $13.00 to get into the city...

Christmas ornaments on top of a fountain near the tree...

The Christmas Tree...

The four of us...

Olivia and Michael...

Just a FEW years ago...

Olivia, Michael and me...

And, again, a few years ago...

The Colonel and me in front of the beautiful angels that line the walk to the tree...

Inside St. Patrick's Cathedral.
If you ever visit the city, you MUST visit this beautiful church...

Such a "touristy" thing to do...

A little snack...

We had such a GREAT time and decided
to go back again next year.

We have a great sponsor for this week's Foodie Friends Friday linky party...

Please come join us with a recipe or just enter the giveaway!

Enjoy your day!

  1. Sorry my first comment didn't post so here goes. This is precious, making memories in 2001, and then 2012. My question is this... How is that Michael and Olivia look older, but you and the Colonel look so much younger? ~smile~Beautiful photos of wonderful memories! Enjoy your day.

  2. It really is beautiful, isn't it. We're on the upper east side and don't usually make it over there (typical New Yorkers!). Glad you had a fun time! :)

  3. You have a lovely family!! The pictures are great!

  4. They charge to get in? =D

Some people never change. You are one of them.

Fun photos of what looks like a fun day. Glad that you'll be returning next year.

  5. Hi Lois! I have only been to NYC once, and would love to go back and see more! Looks like you all had a great time. It's to crazy to see how your kids have grown just since I've known you! Time sure flies!

Hope your new year is fabulous!!
I love it when we give birth to new traditions. There is such a richness there.

    Love and hugs,

  6. Love the photos you have shared of some of our favorite places to visit. Sweet family shots showing precious times together.

  7. How beautiful! I have never had the opportunity to be in New York at Christmas time. It is on my bucket list!

  8. What wonderful photos. I hope you had a great time and that your son is feeling better. :)

  9. Hi Lois! What a fun family trip! I love NYC also as my hubby and I visited before the kids came along - it was our Christmas present that year and we arrived in the city on Boxing Day. Love the tree and even went inside The Plaza to see their big tree in the foyer.
    Thanks for sharing!

  10. Family trips are the best! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun...good for you for going back next year. May be a new tradition! Your family is beautiful, Lois!
    Have a happy day!

  11. I would love to go to "the City" for Christmas. Looks like you all had so much fun!

  12. What a magical place! That was neat seeing the kids then and now! I know you all had a good time...that's evident by the pics! Beautiful family!

  13. That looks like such a fun day! I loved seeing the pics from 10 years ago. That was the Christmas Rich and I were dating and then we were married the next year. Time passes so quickly!

  14. Hi Lois, Thanks for sharing your trip to the 'city' during the holiday season. It's always so festive and you all looked like you enjoyed the day. It's those memorable trips that leave you all with unforgettable memories to last a lifetime.

    Happy New Year!
