Recipe: How to Make Easy Homemade Waffles that you can Freeze

Easy homemade waffles with freezing tips | Walking on Sunshine.

Do you like to make a big breakfast for the weekend?

We do and my family loves Homemade Waffles.  And what better way to celebrate the weekend then with the family gathered around the table and a batch of hot homemade waffles with tons of butter and warm syrup.  And let's not forget the bacon!

This is an EASY recipe that I know you're going to want to print out and use again and again.  And the good thing about this recipe is you can freeze whatever waffles your family doesn't eat...if you have leftovers.

Sometimes I even like to make a double batch so we do have leftovers.  I especially did this when our children were young.  It was easy to take a frozen waffle out of the oven and toast it up to serve for breakfast on a busy school morning.  Make sure you check out the freezer tips for leftover waffles below also.

When our son, Michael, was little he went through a phase of only wanting waffles to eat for dinner. Yes, dinner.  No butter, no syrup, just toasted waffles. So I always made sure I had plenty of waffles in the freezer!  Don't worry, he definitely grew out of that phase.

I definitely think I might even make Homemade Strawberry Sauce to serve alone with these waffles this weekend.  Make sure you check out that recipe too!  Or how about topping the waffles with homemade whipped cream?  That would be really delicious!  Make sure you check out this post on tips for homemade whipped cream and flavored whipped cream

Freezing Tips for Leftover Waffles

To freeze any leftover waffles, place them on a baking tray and then place the tray in the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes until frozen.  Remove the frozen waffles from the baking tray and add to a freezer bag, label and return to freezer.

  1. Thank you for adding the "how to freeze the waffles". I always end up making a double batch and try to freeze them but it doesn't work. I am definitely going to try putting them in the freezer in a single layer before storing them in the freezer.
