How to Make the Most Delicious Apple Pie Recipe from Walking on Sunshine Recipes
Let's talk pie today!
What is your favorite pie for Thanksgiving?  For years I've been all about pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin and then I discovered how really delicious apple pie can be.  I really like apple pie warm from the oven with just a little fresh whipped cream.  Okay, a lot of fresh whipped cream!  This recipe will help you have the most delicious apple pie for your Thanksgiving meal or really for any time of the year.  It's that good!

Thanksgiving is in a few days!  Are you ready?  Is the turkey in the refrigerator defrosting?  It should be!  We picked ours up on Saturday and it's in the refrigerator and hopefully will be defrosted in time for me to prep it on Wednesday night.  Yes, I like to get it all cleaned and ready to go the night before.  That way when I get up on Thursday morning I just have to take it out of the refrigerator and into the oven it goes. Don't worry, I don't stuff our turkey any longer.

By now I'm sure you have your menu all planned and are getting ready to set the table.  Usually my table is always set by this time but we're having some work done in the house and it's delaying me. It's also causing me some major anxiety that things won't be done on time, but it's really beyond my control right now, so let's talk pie and get into this really delicious apple pie recipe.

Apples sliced and mixed with the sugar and spices.

Roll out the pie crust.  This is just one of the two you need for this apple pie.  If you need a good tutorial on how to make perfect pie crust, check out my post on Pie Crust Basics.

Here are a few Finishing Touches for Pie Crust

To make your pie crust beautiful top is off with any of the following washes to the top of the crust; avoiding the edges BEFORE baking:
For a shiny light brown crust: brush with an egg white that has been lightly beaten with a teaspoon of water.
For a glossy golden pie crust: brush the crust with an egg yolk and a teaspoon of water.
For a crisp brown crust: brush the pie crust just with water.
For a little sparkle: sprinkle sugar on top as well.
