Valentine's Day is Sunday!
For this week's Thursday's Tip I put together a few easy and simple
heart shaped recipes for you to make for your family to show them how much you love them this year. For the past few years I have tried to make something heart shaped for my family.
One year I even made heart shaped homemade rolls.
They didn't look very much like hearts, but my son said they were still "tasty."

All you need to make heart shaped treats is a good set
of heart shaped cookie cutters! I have one that has different sizes
and they work great.
First up, we have Heart Shaped Brownies.
Now you can use a regular boxed Brownie mix or you can make
a homemade recipe like the one I posted HERE.
Just bake according to the directions and after the brownies
have cooled, use a heart shaped cookie cutter to get the cute shapes below.
Another easy recipe that's fun to make into heart shapes is
my recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars...
Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 egg
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts, optional
In a mixing bowl, using an electric mixer, cream together the butter and sugar. Add the water and egg. Add the yellow cake mix and combine well.
Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts; if using.
Pour mixture into a 9 X 13 size pan that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool slightly before cutting in serving pieces or before using cookie cutters to cut into heart shapes.
My final heart shaped treat for Valentine's Day is
And if you don't have the time to make any heart shaped treats,
these Chocolate Hearts always work for my husband...
And these Peanut Butter Hearts are my son's favorites...
