Family: Veterans Day - 2015

Today is Veterans Day.
A day where we honor all those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who gave their lives and those who perished while in service.
Is there a special Veteran in your life?
There is in MINE!

My hubby, who I lovingly refer to as The Colonel
has been serving in the Army for over 28 years, both active duty and reserve duty, and has served three tours overseas...Iraq and two times in Afghanistan.

Recipe: Pumpkin Pie Recipe from Scratch

The best pumpkin pie recipe with my secret ingredient to having your pie get rave reviews this Thanksgiving and the entire holiday season!
The best pumpkin pie recipe with my secret ingredient to having your pumpkin pie get rave reviews this Thanksgiving from Walking on Sunshine Recipes.

What is your favorite pie for Thanksgiving?

For me the answer would be pumpkin pie.  Ever since I was a little girl I have loved pumpkin pie. BUT not every piece of pumpkin pie is the same.  I think it's all in what kind of pumpkin you use.

I will admit that this pumpkin pie recipe is not entirely from scratch.  It's delicious and the best I've ever tasted. This is the recipe my mother has been making for years and this is the same recipe I follow for the best ever Pumpkin Pie Recipe.

Ultimate Chocolate Cake from a Cake Mix

Sometimes the best chocolate cake really does start from a cake mix.

Chocolate Cake with Rich Chocolate Glaze Icing.
Do you ever crave something sweet?

Every once in awhile I need chocolate. BUT, I don't always have a lot of time to bake.  That's why I love this recipe for chocolate cake.  It starts out with a cake mix but it
doesn't taste like a traditional cake mix cake.  I promise!

All you need are a few "extras" from your pantry and you will have the most delicious chocolate cake to serve to your family and friends as a special treat this week and
they will never believe this ultimate chocolate cake is from a cake mix.

Weekly Menu Plan: 30 Minute Meals

30 Minute Meals are this week's feature for our Weekly Menu Plan.

Do you have a hard time getting dinner on the table after a long day of work or school?  Or maybe you spend a lot of time running the kids to all their after-school programs and when you get home everyone is hungry and wanting something to eat right away?  I have plenty of days like that and that's why this week's Menu Plan is all about 30 minute meals.

This week I'm concentrating on getting dinner on the table QUICK. I'm sure we all have busy schedules with school, work and especially after school programs.  This is why I'm so happy we have our menu plan to help every week to make sure we have good meals on the table every night for our families.
