Menu Plan Monday #5

Sunday, October 18, 2015

How is the weather where you live?  We woke up yesterday to very cold temperatures here in Northeast PA.  It sure did put me in the mood to pull out my crock pot and make some comfort food this week. Nothing quite warms you up than coming home from a long day at work or school and smell the wonderful aromas coming from your crock pot.  AND knowing dinner is almost ready is an added plus.  So for this week's menu plan I'm going to focus on great crock pot recipes to help make sure we have good meals on the table every night for our families.

If you're struggling with getting meals together and on the table every night, I suggest you start planning out your meals.  Get the kids involved with the planning also!  Have them pick a meal one night a week.  And make sure they know they need to pick a healthy meal that includes vegetables. Make it fun for them!
A great list of crock pot recipes to help get your weekly menu planned this week from Walking on Sunshine Recipes.

Pot Roast is one of my family's favorite recipes.  This is a recipe I've adapted from my mom.  She made this almost every Sunday while we were growing up.  I make it now in the crock pot and it's delicious.  I like to serve it with mashed potatoes or potato gnocchi.

My mom's recipe for pot roast only made in the crock pot. The meat comes out tender and juicy and you have dinner ready for you when you come home from a long day at work.

Slow Cooker Chili from Gimme Some Oven...
It's super easy to make, and perfect for game days, cold nights, and any time you know you're going to be out of the house all day and want dinner on the table quick when you get home.  Serve any leftovers you might have over a baked potato for another easy meal.

from The Comfort of Cooking
Asian-inspired chicken and rice dish with only basic ingredients.  Steamed broccoli would be perfect as a side dish tonight.

from Creme de la Crumb
All of the amazing flavors of a classic cheeseburger wrapped up in a creamy, cheesy slow cooker soup! This soup recipe is perfect for the colder weather.

Crock Pot Chili Mac and Cheese from Tammilee Tips
This crock pot chili mac and cheese recipe is super easy to make and looks delicious.
I'm sure your family will love this tonight for dinner.
Serve a side salad and some crusty bread along with this meal.
