Softening Butter Quickly...Kitchen Tip

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

This week I have another great Kitchen Tip to share with I use and LOVE because it really works!
How to Soften Butter Quickly / Kitchen Tip / Walking on Sunshine Recipes

We've all been there.  You're ready to bake cookies and have all the ingredients ready to go into the mixer and you suddenly realize you forgot to take the butter out of the refrigerator so it can come to room temperature.  In the past, I've attempted to "soften" the butter in the microwave, but it almost always melts.

Here is an simple, easy tip that works every time.

Over a mixing bowl, shred the amount of butter the recipe is calling for on a grater.  The little pieces will soften faster than a solid stick and in no time the butter will be ready to add to your recipe.

Hope this tip works for you the next time you're baking and you forgot to take
the butter out of the refrigerator to soften.

  1. GREAT idea! thank you so much for the tip!!

  2. That sounds way easier than trying to soften it in the microwave. I always end up with half of it melted and the other half still softened.

  3. Great tip - I never thought of that.

  4. This is fabulous! I love it. Pinned and tweeted. Thanks for being a part of our party! I hope you stop by on Monday at 7 pm. We love to party with you. Merry Christmas! Lou Lou Girls

  5. Looks like a great idea! I've tried the microwave too & usually just end up waiting for it.

  6. I run into this problem quite often and will definitely be using this tip. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
