Department 56 Village Collection

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

Since today is Christmas Eve, I thought I would share with you my collection of Department 56 Villages. I've shared this collection with you before, but they're so pretty I thought it would be nice to see the photos again this year.

My husband and I started collecting them the year we purchased our first house.  We don't have a huge collection, but every one means something to me and I love decorating the house with them.

They make my mantel beautiful...

The Bookstore and the Apple Valley School House.  Olivia picked out the school house and was her gift to me the year she was in kindergarten...

The Old North Church that began our collection...

The Bike Shop...

Another beautiful church, The Deacon's Way Chapel, with stained glass windows...

And another church...

A Victorian Cottage...

The Bishop's Oast...

I love adding accessories...

A dancing couple...

I didn't put the village up this year.  It's my husband's job to unpack them and make sure the lights are working.  We work on putting the houses up on the mantel and then on top of the TV unit together.  But he's not home this year and I just didn't have the heart to do all the unpacking myself.  So they sit down in our storage room waiting for him to come home and next year we'll enjoy displaying them together. Maybe we'll even go shopping and buy a new one to add to our collection.

I pray you all will have a Merry Christmas!

  1. Awww...I understand how one's heart wouldn't be in it, but thank you for showing me the set. It is a beauty. I got out my set for my grands yesterday. They said that their mother wasn't putting up her village and they felt sad. (She's in a time crunch.) Anyway, I was happy to see the set after it had been in the box for three years. It was time to get it out.

Thinking of you and your husband as you spend Christmas so far away. May you each find some Christmas joys even this year.God bless you!
