Homemade Allspice Recipe

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Sometimes a recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of a spice that you don't use all the time.  And if you're like me, you go to the grocery store and purchase a small container of this spice and it usually sits in the pantry for awhile before you need to use it again.  AND the next you need to use the spice, it's lost the flavor because it's been sitting around for too long.  OR sometimes when you purchase the spice, the price is outrageous, and you think, "Do I really need to buy this spice?"

Well, here's a tip you need to remember the next time a recipe calls for Allspice...

  1. Thank you for this information. I will try this during the holiday baking.

  2. Thanks for this recipe, I have copied it.

  3. That is a great tip! You are so right, so many times, especially around the holidays I need an odd spice that is a teeny tiny container and costs more than a car wash! I've gotten so I check the Internet for a homemade version before I buy them!
