Homemade Barbecue Sauce...

Monday, July 22, 2013

Since it's summertime and we're all spending more time grilling,
we need to talk about Barbecue Sauce.

Yes, I usually use a bottle one, mostly "Sweet Baby Rays."
But every now and then I get the urge to make this delicious homemade recipe;
that also freezes well.

Homemade Barbecue Sauce...

1 (7 ounce) can tomato paste
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons spicy Dijon mustard (I used a horseradish mustard)
2 tablespoons BBQ seasoning mix (or Season Salt)
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
4 cups water

Whisk all the ingredients together in a large saucepan and bring to a boil
over medium-high heat.

Reduce heat to maintain a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally,
until reduced by about half or desired thickness; about 1 hour.

Cool completely before transferring to an airtight container
and storing in the refrigerator.
Use the barbecue sauce within 1 week or freeze for up to 6 months...

Come back tomorrow to see a GREAT recipe using

this amazing homemade barbecue sauce!

ENJOY Your Day!

  1. I often need a barbecue sauce recipe. This one sounds very good and with ingredients that I have.

  2. I'm lazy, so I just buy mine. Mostly Baby Ray's, too. I'm looking forward to seeing what you're going to put your BBQ sauce on!
