Coffee and Brownies...

Thursday, November 15, 2012

A few weeks ago I received a package of Don Tomas Coffee.
They were sending me the coffee as part of their promotion
to sponsor our Foodie Friends Friday Linky Party for this week,
that's right, you will have a chance to win a package of this gourmet coffee tomorrow.

My Foodie Friends and I decided to try the coffee by making a pot to drink and
also try creating a recipe using the coffee.

I made BROWNIES...

But first I had to make some coffee because the recipe called for "day old" coffee...

I prepared the coffee a few weeks ago when my sister and her hubby were visiting.
They really enjoyed the taste and said it definitely tasted like fancy gourmet coffee.

Brownie Recipe Ingredients:

3/4 cup cocoa powder (for BAKING)
1/2 cup old coffee
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Begin by placing your butter and coco powder in a microwavable safe bowl.
Add your coffee and microwave the above ingredients
for 30 second intervals (stir between) until butter is melted...

Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, pour into a 9X13 pan that has
been sprayed well and bake 30 - 35 minutes in a 350 degree oven until they are done...

Delicious.
A perfect blend of chocolate and coffee...you definitely taste the coffee!

My Colonel LOVED them, my son, didn't...but then again he's only 15
and doesn't drink coffee.

  14. Coffee and chocolate = two of my favorite things. Sounds really yummy, but there isn't any such thing as "old" coffee around here. She actually made the coffee weeks ago and stored it in the fridge I presume? Does it have to be "old" coffee?
