Tuesday's Question...

This week's Tuesday's Question has to do with Easter.

"What is your favorite Easter hymn?"

I love all the Easter hymns but my favorite is...

Christ Arose

This hymn always brings me back to my childhood
 singing this song in church
on Easter morning.

We had two services, a Sunrise Service, followed by breakfast
and then our regular morning service.

AND we went to BOTH services...
with NO complaining.

This hymn starts out slow with the verses and then picks up speed
with the joyful refrain and chorus:

Lo in the grave He lay,
Jesus, my Savior!
Waiting the coming day,
Jesus, my Lord!

He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
  Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Such beautiful words that tell the Easter Story perfectly.

I can close my eyes and I'm transported back to the church I grew up in
and I can hear all the wonderful dear people in the congregation
joining their voices together to sing this beautiful hymn
proclaiming for all to hear that,
yes, indeed, Christ Arose!

Please leave me a comment and let me know

YOUR favorite Easter hymn!

Enjoy your day!

  1. Those are wonderful memories and a wonderful hymn. My favorite Easter hymn is "My Redeemer Lives". I too have many memories of being on church on Easter and my folks and family singing hymns.

  4. My favorite is...My Redeemer Lives...I just sang it as a solo last week for a gathering of women in our church. I KNOW He is REAL and that He lives. :)

  5. I'm glad you asked that question because it has made me stop and think about several of my favorites. I think my favorite is "I Believe in Christ". A close second is "I Know that My Redeemer Lives". Both of them make me teary because of the knowledge I have that He DOES live, and we will, too.

  7. Hi Lois,
Actually that is my favorite as well.
It is the true depiction of what Easter is really all about.

Hope you and yours have a Wonderful
    Easter Celebration.

I am still fighting this virus, feeling a lil better each day, but have gotten nothing done this week at all.
Went to the Dr. yesterday cause I felt like it has gone to my chest,
but they said my lungs were clear,
thankfully, so no meds needed, very happy about that, just have to wait it out. Still coughing my head off and tired. Sure hope this goes away soon.

    Blessings sweetie,
    Nellie

  8. I love that one too, Lois! Great song indeed.
If I had to pick one, it would probably be The Old Rugged Cross or Nothing But the Blood.

  9. Lois,

My favorite Easter Hymn is "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." It makes me cry every time I here it.
Do you know it? Here's the words -
I know that my Redeemer lives.
What comfort this sweet sentance gives!
He lives, He lives, who once was dead.
    He lives, my ever-living Head.
He lives to bless me with His love.
He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed.
He lives to bless in time of need.

He lives to grant me rich supply.
He lives to guide me with His eye.
He lives to comfort me when faint.
He lives to hear my soul's comlaint.
He lives to silence all my fears.
He lives to wipe away my tears.
He lives to calm my troubled heart.
He lives all blessings to impart.

He lives, my kind, wise heav'nly Friend.
He lives and loves me to the end.
He lives, and while He lives, I'll sing.
He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.
He lives, and grants me daily breath.
He lives, and I shall conquer death.
He lives my mansion to prepare.
He lives to bring me safely there.

He lives! All glory to His name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet joy this sentance gives.
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"
He lives! All glory to His name!
He lives, my Savior, still the same.
Oh, sweet the joy this sentance gives:
"I know that my Redeemer lives!"

If you already knew it I hope you didn't mind the lyrics but I had never heard of this hymn until my husband and I joined the LDS Church. You can listen to the hymn on-line if you want at You Tube.

I hope you are your family have the best Easter ever!

    He Lives!

    Maureen
