Homemade Pizza...

Saturday, January 14, 2012

First, a very HAPPY Birthday to my niece
She turns 9 today and I know there are lots of fun things
planned for her.
We celebrated a week ago at my mom's house
and also celebrated my Olivia's birthday which
was last Sunday.

If it's Saturday, this is what's on the menu at our house...

But first, I wanted to say...

Hopefully you all are enjoying a WONDERFUL Saturday!
Not much going on here except some organizing in
our storage room and I LOVE ORGANIZING!

We watched a movie last night Contagion...

It was okay.
Made me realize how important it is to WASH our hands
when we come home.

I usually make my own pizza dough.
It really is easy.
BUT, there are plenty of times where I don't have the time
or the desire to make the dough myself.
SO, I purchase a loaf of pizza dough from our local
pizza shop or they sell great pizza dough in our bakery section
at our grocery store.

Tomorrow is Scripture Sunday!

Enjoy your Saturday!

  1. I love homemade pizza, I can put all the sausage, onions and mushrooms on it that I like. Have a good weekend.

  2. Try this idea sometime. Take hoggie buns and half them and spread pizza sauce on them and then load them up with whatever toppings you want and bake them until cheese is melted and buns are slightly crisp and brown. My family loved these and now I make them for my grandchildren. Yummy. They are like mini pizzas.

  3. Your pizza looks yummy! I love homemade pizza too. I like how you can add anything you want and mine have more healthy things in it and it is not as greasy as the ones you buy. Have a great Saturday!

  4. Your homemade pizza looks yummy, and the movie look like a good one!

  5. I buy pre-baked pizza shells from a store near Kingston. I buy about 10 and free them and whenever I decide to make pizza I just defrost the shell put everything on top and bake. So easy. We like what we call a garbage pie, which is everything we like on the pizza. Onions, green peppers, sausage, pepperoni, and extra cheese. Delicious.

  6. I'm a big lover of homemade pizza...I make it a lot for our family. I want to see Contagion soon, but might not be a good idea since I'm somewhat of a germaphobe.

  7. I love homemade pizza too. Yours is making me hungry! :)

  8. Lois,

Have you tried making the dough and freezing it? The pizza place a friend worked at got their dough from the company frozen. As manager, she had to remember to take the dough out of the freezer the night before and put it in covered container in the refrigerator. It thawed over night and was ready to use in the morning. I have read about other people making their own and freezing it also.

  9. Maureen, yes, I have thought about it, but never do! If I do purchase it at the grocery store, I usually throw it in the freezer until a Saturday night! Tried a few times to email you, but your email address is NOT on your profile! Hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for your comments, they're always wonderful!!!

  10. Homemade pizza is the BEST!! We used to do it on the outside grill and it turns out wonderful.

  11. Funny, I saw that movie at the check out at the grocery store last night. I haven't heard of it and wondered what it was about and if it was good. I use to make homemade pizza when our kids were at home, but haven't done it in years. Last year, when we went to the beach with the family, I let the grands make their own individual ones on the night we were having low country boil...knew they wouldn't care for that. They thought that was fun!

  12. Love your blog! Thanks for stopping by! I am now following :)

  13. I love homemade pizza - you can make it as thick or thin as you like - our grocery store has it too. And I have never seen that movie - was it good? sandie

  14. We're big fans of homemade pizza here, too. When we make it ourselves we can control the sodium content and sneak more vegetable into the kids. Would you believe that they beg for spinach pizza? Tonight our three year old made the crust while our 20-month-old added the cheese. (With lots of help, of course, for my own sanity.)

Is the local pizza joint that sell the crust to you a mom&pop? That is such a great idea.

  15. Happy Birthday, Gracie!
Yummy looking pizza~ I LOVE homemade pizza!
Thanks for the movie review... it's been on our pay-per-view channel and I thought once about ordering... now I'm glad I didn't ! *hehe*

  16. Your pizza looks delicious!! I haven't seen that movie, but I do wash my hands all the time, and clean my doorknobs too.

  17. Homemade pizza is a favourite in our house. And if there are any leftovers... we freeze the slices to be used for future lunches.
