Dawn Wells Potato Peeling Video...

Okay, one of my favorite side dishes is
Mashed Potatoes.
I seriously could eat them with almost every meal.

But I hate peeling potatoes.

For Thanksgiving I made the Colonel help me peel the 
10 pounds of potatoes I prepared for our meal.

I found this video the other day and thought, 
"No way."

Has anyone tried this?

I'm planning on having mashed potatoes tonight with our meal.
I'm seriously going to try this way of preparing them.

I'll let you know how it works!

On the menu at our house tonight:

Roasted Chicken Breasts
Mashed Potatoes
Green Beans (just because you need something green with all the carbs!)

  1. Nver tried it. I hate the peelers so just use a paring knife. It's much faster!

  4. That sure did look easy to do. I do that with my potatoes when I make potato salad but never thought about doing it for mashed potatoes.
    I also hate the peeler and use a paring knife.

  5. What time is dinner? ;-) I've actually seen that video before and isn't it fun! I do that for potatoes when I've got little potatoes that would be a pain to peel. I kinda like peeling the huge potatoes though.

  6. I love potatoes too, just about any way they can be served :) I think potatoes are my favorite comfort food.
    I've seen the video before, but haven't tried it. I wonder how long you'd put them back in to cook to get them soft enough for mashed potatoes. Let us know how they turn out!

  10. Hi Lois, I love mashed potatoes too. This way of peeling looks so easy, I'll have to try it! Thanks for sharing this. I use a paring knife most of the time because I usually end up cutting myself with the peeler. Those things are sharp!

  11. I don't know which is more amazing~ the peeling trick or the fact that Dawn Wells looks the same way she did when she was on Gilligan's Island! There is something very unfair about that... *grin*

  14. I could eat potatoes every day of the week, and every meal of the day, no matter how you cook them. A lot of people may not like this, but I don't peel mine. Fortunately, hubby raises our potatoes, so I don't worry about the pesticides and all. I just wash them, cut them up and cook them, regardless of how I cook them. I hate peeling potatoes!
