Tuesday's Question...

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Before I ask you Tuesday's Question,
I wanted to share with you something I purchased yesterday.

The Colonel and I have been wanting a lantern
to put by our fireplace for quite some time.
We found a few that we liked, but they
were too much money.

Yesterday while I was shopping with Olivia, we went
to the Yankee Candle Outlet near our house to
purchase 2 votive candles for our Thanksgiving table.

As I was paying for the candles, I looked up and at the top of their
clearance shelf was this beautiful lantern...
for only $10.00!!!!

And see that step stool that it's sitting on?
Michael came home from school yesterday with it.
He MADE it in his woodworking class.

It is so beautiful and I love how the two look together by the fireplace.

And now on to this week's
 Tuesday Question.
It's an obvious one...

"What are you most thankful for this year?"

And my answer is an obvious one as well.
I am most thankful that my Colonel is home.

AND...
not just home from Afghanistan, where he was last year,
but really home.

For the past 8 years my Colonel has been stationed away from us;
Ft. Dix, NJ, Atlanta, Iraq and Afghanistan.

So I'm thankful he's HOME.
I'm thankful for a normal life.

Leave me a comment and let me know what YOU'RE thankful for this year.

One more thing I'm thankful for this year...

All my Blogging Friends!

Thank you for spending time with me.
Thank you for reading my blog.
Thank you for your lovely comments.

But more importantly...
Thank you for your friendship.

On the menu at our house tonight:

Mom's Pot Roast
Buttered Noodles
Roasted Carrots
Dinner Rolls

Enjoy your day!

  1. Michael made the stool?!! It's AMAZING and looks so well crafted!
And of course the lamp is perfect!
I'm thankful for the joy of being in God's family first and foremost and then for my loving family here too!

  2. I love you lantern Lois and what a wonderful price you got it for! I see Michael has a future in wood crafting. He did a wonderful job on the little bench. It was made for that lantern!

You have asked a very hard question Lois. I don't think that I could just list one thing I am thankful for over another. God is good and my life reflects that.

Wishing you and your family a blessing filled Thanksgiving!

    Hugs,
    AMY

  3. Lois, I'm so happy you found your lantern and that it already has a resting place. I'm also happy for you family getting to be together this year. I too appreciate my friends in my computer! :D
Since we know all good things come from the Father I must be most thankful for the goodness, grace and mercy that has been showered on us by Him. His is good all the time and I only wish every soul knew this. His provision is perfect and I thank Him for all the wonderful things we have. Most of all His Son who came to save us and set us free. Thanks for giving us an opportunity to share with you this Thanksgiving.
    Hugs, Debbie

  5. Love the lantern and stool. And something one of your children made always gives it that extra something.

Other than the obvious, grateful to my Jesus, I am especially grateful to have my oldest daughter, Virginia back in my life. You see it has been a difficult 8 years, we had been estranged for that long. The enemy creeped in and damaged our relationship. But not only did God turn that around and bring her back to me, more importantly He drew her into His arms and this year she accepted, truly accepted Christ as her Savior! I am grateful beyond words.

  6. Good morning! I LOVE the lantern, and what a perfect place for it to rest!!

I am thankful of course as always for my God. Through all of the good times, and all of the hard times, I can ALWAYS count on Him to walk right by my side giving me everything I truly need. Then of course for my family whom help make up the pages of my everyday life, but this year right near the top is for the birth of my healthy new grandson Samuel. How grateful I am for him!! I know I've given more than one....I never can narrow it down, haha. And am I ever with you on the computer friends! How I love them all. I rejoice with you that your colonel is home with you all as he should be!! Hope you having wonderful days with your daughter, and with the rest of that family too! HUGS

  17. Love the lantern and the stool a perfect fit for it too...To choose one thing I am most thankful for is difficult. I would say I am thankful that I am a child of GOD and for the family HE provided me. I asked the question to my Bible class today....If you woke up tomorrow with only what you thanked God for today then what would your life be like?
Here is to wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving!:)

  18. The lantern is the perfect touch to that very perfect stool. :)

I am thankful that a painful year for my husband is coming to a close and that he weathered it all with grace and that it didn't pull us apart, but rather brought us closer together. Family isn't always blood, and that's been such a hard thing for him to find. :/
