Under His Wings...

If you read yesterday's post, you'll know that two years ago today

my father went home to be with the Lord.

I wanted to share with you the lyrics to his favorite hymn.

Even though this is a very old hymn, the words are still so beautiful

and are filled with such a wonderful promise that we can be sheltered and secured

as long as we rest in the knowledge of Jesus' love, mercy and grace.

UNDER HIS WINGS

Under His wings I am safely abiding,
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me,
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.

Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life's trials are o'er;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,
Resting in Jesus, I'm safe evermore.

Chorus:

Under His wings, under His wings,
Who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide,
Safely abide forever.

  1. You've been blessed in many ways; one having a wonderful Godly father, and a wonderful husband. That is a beautiful hymn. I attend a church that still sings the old hymns and I love em! May you find joy in the memories:)

  2. I love this hymn too. I was thinking the same thing as your friend said about you being soo blessed. How wonderful to have such a GOOD relationship with your dad and what a wonderful last memory of your time together you shared in your other post. I am sure you have soo many others you can page through in your mind whenever you would like. Yes, a very blessed woman. Have a good day...HUGS

  4. Beautiful hymn.

I love that hymn. And in the last six years we have our lost 6yr. old granddaughter, My husband's dad and also my husband's sister. Then his mom and my sister and also a precious friend.

It helps to think on the words of that song, and on our Lord's love for us.

Our church still sings the old hymns and I love them. They are so beautiful. I feel bad that so many churches are not using them anymore, because they are based on scriptures and they hold so much truth.

    Blessings!

  5. Yes that is so true and beautiful. I just love that hymn. I love signing the old hymns also.
You are truly blessed to have such a great relationship with your dad.
My dad was not caring or loving by any means. So I enjoy hearing from those who had a father/daughter love.

  14. Great hymn, Lois, reminds me of Psalm 91, one of my favorites.
Your relationship with your Dad was similar to mine with my Dad. Our blessed hope is to be reunited with them one day to catch up .
