Happy Birthday...

MICHAEL!

13 years ago today was a very scary day for us.
Michael's birth was very unpredictable.
I actually went into labor with him 8 weeks early
but was able to hold on till his due date.

However, by the time that date arrived I was very huge.

I guess that's what 8 weeks of bed rest does!

Anyway, during Michael's birth he somehow managed to get stuck...
he was just too big, he weighed 10 1/2 pounds!

All of a sudden 3 nurses were on top of my belly
trying to push him out,
his heart rate had dropped tremendously and
I was in the worse pain I ever experienced as the doctor
proceeded to break Michael's collarbone to save his life.

He was born with no heart beat, not breathing and quite blue.

Thankfully they were able to revive him and he has been a joy to us ever since!

One of my favorite pictures of him with my dad...

Four years ago...

Last year at a water park...

Happy Birthday Michael!
May the Lord bless you as you continue to grow and serve Him!
We love you!

  11. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your sweet son! What a cutie...future heartbreaker I am thinking, haha...My youngest son weighed 10 pounds too. What an ordeal is right. Sounds like yours was very scary. I see he is a brown belt too. That's quite an accomplishment. My oldest son is to receive his 6th degree black belt this spring. He is 37...He owns his own school and has brought many to the level of black belt so I know what goes into it. Have a wonderful birthday day with your son. Hugs, Debbie

Hope you have a wonderful day hon!!

    Lois,
Oh My Heavens!! when you told about your birth experience I was dying.
    Can't imagine being there!! whoa!
Praise the Lord He had his hand on you and Michael. Never heard of them having to break a babies bone
to deliver them. Wow! that is something. So glad everything turned out well.
Also read you comment from today
and just want you to know someone
inspired me too! I think her name is joyce Landorf. I heard a tape once from her called dinnertime delight or disaster and it really
changed our dinner hour, and one of the things she said was that she used to only use her good china when company came but somehow she was convicted about not using it for her own family.
So the first time she did it, her kids started saying Mom, who's coming to dinner, and she said,
some very special people, and they
kept saying who, and of course, they finally found out it was them, and they were thrilled!!
That was probably about 20 some odd year ago. I was probably around 35, give or take a few years, not sure exactly!! But these things take time!! But Glad you were inspired, it's a good thing as Martha says!! lol
    Love and Blessings hon,
    Have a great birtdhday celebration
    with Michael!

  29. Lois, Hi I got your comment today on my blog, I am so sorry that you are missing your husband, I can not imagine how hard it is for you and every other family, I pray for you to have strength and faith at this time. When I started following your blog, it was because of the love between you and the Colonel, I could just feel it in every word you wrote. If I were there I would give you a great big Canadian Hug, and just hold your hand. All my love to you.c

  34. I had to laugh at the comment you left on my blog because my little GS would not eat any of the bread we made this week:) He eats next to nothing. The bread does not need any kneading so it is so easy to make and it is so delicious. I would say to make it on a snow day with your kids but you have had one to many snow days this year already:) Stay warm.
