"The military is an excellent way to keep the
stupid members of society off the streets.
He will be gone for a year, but if he is injured or killed he will be home sooner."

The above quote is what someone commented about my last post.
The post where I was talking about the Colonel leaving in a few weeks.

To go to Afghanistan.

To fight for our freedom.

Below is what the Colonel had to say:

"You may one day realize the value of those who man the wall on your behalf.
But first you will have to move out of your mother's house."

I think that says it all.

Oh, the name of this person's blog is called
 "The Crap Blog Detective."

I guess he needs to start with his own blog.

  1. I'm sorry that you were exposed to this senseless, tasteless comment. I read your blog a few days ago and couldn't think of a proper response to your pain. I have a son-in-law who is a Marine. He has been deployed to Iraq on three occasions and my heart grieves each time for him, my daughter and his family. The Lord has kept him each time. This is a very difficult time for you, and I am sorry that this insensitive moron chose your blog to spout his nonsense. I would encourage you to direct this to blogger as abuse. He will be investigated and shut down.

  2. I went to his blog to give him a piece of my mind, but couldn't leave an "anonymous" comment, he has it set up that way. WHAT A JERK! I almost feel sorry for someone that has nothing better to do than go around blogland leaving sensless and hurtful comments! I'm so sorry and saddened you had to be a victim of this IDIOT! Maybe HE needs to join the military and defend our country, they probably wouldn't take him though!!! ((BIG HUGS)) to you & the colonel for all your sacrifices!!!!

  3. Oh..My..Goodness...You have got to be kidding me. What in the world is the matter with people? That is just soo sad all the way around. Sad that you had to read and hear such a thing, and sad that there is someone who is as obviously messed up as he is. He ought to think WHO it is that has given him the freedom to write and say such a thing in the first place. I'm sorry you had to hear that. But he is afterall just one sorry excuse for a man. Have a wonderful day my friend, Debbie

  4. Obviously, his mama didn't teach him "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Is the jerk even an American citizen?

I'm so sorry you had to deal with this, Lois. I think your dh's comment was appropriate.

    ps ITA with Debbie-report abuse!

  9. Morning Sweet Sunshine,
Oh My Goodness, is all I can say,
I can't even imagine why anyone would take the time to write something so horrible to you. Seems some people just thrive on being nasty, they are truly to be pitied because they must be very
miserable people is all I can say!
So Sorry you had to be subjected to that.
Well, he or she is just one lil droplet in the ocean of all those that so appreciate and love our military men and families for all the sacrifices they make. So pay them no mind, they are truly deceived individuals full of hate
and bitterness and allowing themselves to be used by the enemy of our soul! Sad state of affairs for them!! Too bad there junk has to splash over onto everyone else.
You tell the Col. that we so appreciate him and all that he and his service buddies do for us to keep us free, we know if they were not over there doing what they
are doing, we would be fighting on our turf, after all they declared war on us, not the other way around. People just forget the truth so easily!! Amazing!
Hope you and your family have an awesome Thanksgiving at your sister's house. I am glad you don't have to worrry with all those preparations this year so you can just enjoy your time with Phil and the family.
    Have a good week Sweetie,
    and just consider the source.
Thanks for sharing, we will be praying for this person! He or she could use some prayers, they are in a pit for sure!
    Love and Blessings,
    Nellie

  10. I hope you guys will take the value of this guys comment for what it is - valueless. I linked back to his blog and saw some other derogatory comments about military families. I was born into a military family. My wife's dad was career air force. Both of our dads were men of high character and not deserving of comments as that made by this guy. Try to dismiss it. Giving it anything more than casual attention will feed his purpose and make him happy. God bless you guys.

  12. Pay it no attention, Lois. This guy thrives on the attention he gets by making ridiculous, distasteful comments.

  13. Are you kidding me?? What a complete idiot and the Colonel's response is priceless!

Just remember, for every idiot, there's at LEAST 12 (that's how many people have commented ahead of me) of us who love and are thankful for all the men and women who serve this country and defend our freedom.

  15. I agree and feel that this needs to be reported.
My heart goes out to you and your family that have to get such comment.
If his blog will not take comments then I would say he is a total zero.
Prayers for all the good men and women who protect us so no accounts have the privileged to make comments.
    Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

  16. Oh my Lois,
What an insensitive nasty comment from a very strange person! I am sorry you had to read that. I just went to his site to see what he's all about and belive me he's not even worth discussing.
I want to wish you and your family a most blessed Thanksgiving. Blessings, Loretta

  18. Dearest Lois, I have been reading your posts over the last few weeks without reading the comments, so I didn't spot this until you posted today. How very sad that some people feel this is an appropriate way to act - and how amazing that you have such a fabulous husband, and friends (real and virtual!) who stand alongside you when people of no consequence at all try, and fail, to be 'funny' or 'smart.' Ignore him, and let your blog remain the amazing, edifying place it is to visit for those people who value what is important. Love Fiona x

  20. The Colonel got the best of that little exchange.

What a peculiar creature! He's undoubtedly compensating for *something* and goes around making mischief because he's such a wormy-looking little guy. Couldn't make it through boot camp in a million years.

  21. I'm so sorry that you had to read such a comment. I agree with Debbie- to report him to blogger. Such senseless spewing of hate. The Colonel's comment is right.

Take a deep breath and think about all the wonderful people in this country:)

    God bless,

  22. I am so sorry for the comment of that insensitive person. Just don't pay any attention to such foolishness.

Please thank your husband for his service to our country. I for one appreciate him, as well as all of our wonderful servicemen you give so much for our freedoms.

And thank you for being such a supportive and sacrificial wife.

I know it must be so very hard for you and the kids when he is away.

I pray you will have friends who fill your life with love and friendship,...and family members who will help you get through this time apart from your man.

    Have A happy Thanksgiving!

  23. Hello, I came to your blog via Noreen's at "Life Blessings".

Please tell the Colonel that was an excellent answer! We are proud of our military and keep them in our prayers & their families! As a former military wife (some years back) and an American I thank the Lord for our brave men & women that help to keep us safe from our enemies.

Be safe Colonel & his bride, may God guide your every footstep and surround you with His loving presence.

  24. I've known several military members, and they are all highly intelligent individuals---the best of the best, I would say. I think the person's blog name says it all.

  26. Oh my goodness!!!
    That is TERRIBLE to read.
It is SO sad what people can
    say and do!

"For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue."
    -Psalm 109:2

    Colonel~
    We thank God for your
    service to our Country!!!!
    Bless you!!!

"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,"
    -Philippians 1:3

  27. What a weirdo!! Anyone that can think that is off their rocker and UnAmerican. Some people are very clueless, and should not speak of things they know nothing of. God Bless All Our Troops and May The Lord put a hedge of protection around your hubby!!

  28. Matthew 5:11-12: "Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

Be blessed and encouraged, Colonel and Lois! You have a lot of support out here.

  29. I DROPPED BY TO WISH YOU AND THE COLONEL A VERY BLESSED THANKSGIVING.
I AM SO VERY SORRY FOR SUCH UGLY AND MEAN COMMENTS LEFT ON YOUR BLOG. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PERSON CRYING OUT FOR ATTENTION ANY CRUEL WAY HE CAN AND I THINK THE COLONEL SAID WHAT NEEDED TO BE SAID. THIS PERSON WOULD NOT MAKE IT IN THE MILITARY. I HAVE LONGED PRAYED EVERY DAY FOR OUR PRECIOUS MILITARY AND I WILL SAY AN EXTRA PRAYER ALL 365 DAYS THE COLONEL IS SERVING ON FOREIGN SOIL FOR THIS COUNTRY...FOR OUR FREEDOM TO BE ABLE TO EVEN WRITE CRUEL COMMENTS TO PEOPLE.
THANK YOU FOR BEING THE BEAUTIFUL WIFE OF THE COLONEL AND FOR THOSE DAYS YOU ARE ALONE. MAY YOU FEEL MY PRAYERS ALSO.
HOPEFULLY BLOGGR WILL SHUT THIS MAN DOWN...YOU DIDN'T SEEK HIM...HE CAME TO YOUR BLOG...I WONDER IF HE HAS SAID THIS TO OTHER WOMEN WHO BLOG AND HAVE HUSBANDS IN THE MILITARY.
MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES TO THE COLONEL FOR HAVING TO SERVE FOR SUCH AN AMERICAN AS THIS CRUEL MAN

  30. He got exactly what he set out to do - he got a reaction. I looked at his blog and what he wants is the attention and gratification of knowing he got under your skin.

Kudos to the Colonel for his response.

He is not worth a reply on his blog nor a breath I take.

On of My favorite lines from a movie (Pure Country) is:

Funny thing about chicken Poop, the white stuff on top is chicken Poop too. Took me awhile to understand the line but makes perfect sense - he's no better than the white stuff on the chicken poop.

  31. Lois,

You know what? It took me several days to formulate a response to this in my brain. I am just disgusted and disturbed by this.

I am thankful that a faceless, anonymous fool has the freedom to say something so idiotic and ridiculous--but only because they have a soldier to thank for that freedom!

Thank the Colonel for me. I will be praying for him and all of your family as you go through this time. May God bless and keep all of you close in His hands.

  33. I have to say that my jaw hit the floor and my agner reached the boiling over point when I read what was left on your blog! I had to reread what was said a few times before I realized that someone actually left a comment like that, as I was sure I was reading it wrong and someone could not be that cold hearted!!! I am so sorry! That is so mean and completely disrespectful!!! Your husband and all the others like him do a brave and wonderful thing for us all. I am so very thankful for the men and women like him, for the sacrafices they make. My heart goes out to you, I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you to have to say good bye for a year. You guys will be in prayers!!!
