As Promised!

I know I'm a week late in getting these posted, but here they are!

The Colonel recently had a four day weekend.
He worked on re-staining the front porch and the milk cans and the bench
and changing the light fixtures.

The entrance to our house...

Our new lights...
The old ones were brass...oh the horror!

Right side of the porch steps...

Newly painted bench...

Newly painted milk cans.
We've had these forever.
They've been blue, cranberry and now black.
Left side of the porch steps...

A beautiful sunrise.
This is what greets me most mornings...

Enjoy your day!

  3. Good morning Lois,
Your porch is just beautiful! What a gorgeous view! I love the milk cans. I have one too, also painted black. I keep mine inside now because the bees used to nest under it every summer. Have a beautiful day. Hugs, Loretta

  4. Oh! You are so blessed to have a porch! That is what I have always wanted. I just want to sit on a porch like yours in my rocking chairs and chat with my older daughters and friends that stop by. I also would love to knit on a porch. The Colonel is able to do everything~where did he learn his carpentry skills? Was it from the military or his father? Everything looks beautiful. Where I am we have "Saltboxes" so there are no porches! My main goal is to look for a house with a large porch like yours in the future. God bless and thank you for the kind words you left on my blog, Rose

  11. I LOVE it!! Don't you just love how a little paint can change the whole "feel"? I would love to have a front porch like that...LOVE IT....That is one of the many things that is so fun about blogging is seeing how others have their homes, etc. in other parts of the country. Almost no one in California (that I know or see anyway) has a front porch...and I am not sure why...maybe someday...Have a wonderful day enjoying that new wonder porch...Blessings, Debbie

  12. Good Morning Lois~

Now I know why Nellie calls you "Sunshine!"
I love the sunrise that greets you!

Your home looks so warm and welcoming. The Colonel did a WONDERFUL job! I too, happily changed my 10 year old lite fixtures beside the garage door...what a difference. =)
Hope you both are still on the mend. Blessings this new month.

  25. Beautiful porch and great paint job! I have a milk can at my front door too. I'm trying to decide if I'm keeping it there or not, but my daughter says "no, don't move it! I set things there if my arms are full while I open the door!" So- gotta think about it some more:)

I love your flowers on the steps too!

    Have a great day!

  36. Hi Sweetie,
I used fat free half and half,
and only 2 tablespoons of Land of Lakes light butter w/ canola oil.
and I used the Swanson 99% fat free
chicken broth, and lite sour cream. I also use the 2% cheddar cheese as well. We all loved it,
in fact, my daughter came over early to drop off her dog just so she could have some, and it was such a hit she took some home as well. I made a salad to go with it,
and it was quite filling. so we even have some leftovers for today or whenever. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we did.
Have a great day and thanks for your sweet comments.
    Blessings hon, Nellie
