Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Here at Walking on Sunshine it was really good.
Nothing special, just good.

We worked in the front yard garden on Saturday.
It was so overgrown.
Everything is cut back and looking like civilized people
live here once again!

It was that bad!

We planted some butterfly bushes about 2 years ago...
They grow so huge and so fast and I am not crazy about them anymore.

Oh I do love the butterflies that they attract.  I do love the purple flowers that they produce.  It's just that they grow and grow and grow until your house is no longer recognizable.

We are taking them out next year.

Seems there's never an end to work around here.
The Colonel needs to re-stain the front porch and steps BADLY.
He's hoping to get some time off in a few weeks to take care of that and a few other projects that are waiting for him to finish up.

We got some mums yesterday and placed them around the house.
Mostly on the back porch.
I even brought out some fall decorations yesterday and placed them around in the kitchen.
It looks so pretty.
I know it's going to get hot again, but I can still enjoy my pretty decorations and the smell of my favorite candle.

I'm feeling much better.
Thank you all for your prayers and concerns.
MRSA is nothing to fool around with and it definitely wiped me out.
I can't even begin to describe the pain.
But God is good and my bumps are healing.

Enjoy your day!

  1. I'm so glad your infection is gone and you're feeling better. Very scary!
Thank you for telling us about the butterfly bushes. I've always loved the way they looked but didn't realize that they got so big. If I get some I will be sure to keep it away from the house. I love the ones with the multi color flower.
I still haven't gotten around to buying my mums. I usually have them in the ground by now. What color mums did you plant? I love the rust colored ones!!
Have a beautiful day! Blessings, Loretta

  2. So glad to hear you are doing better. And I cannot wait to get some fall decor going on....maybe next week after this week of 90's passes!!!! Looking forward to cooler days!

  3. My parents have two butterfly bushes in their back yard. They are ginormous but so beautiful. Glad to hear you had a great weekend. Even if you did some Laboring! God Bless, Lisa

  4. SO glad you are feeling better! I, too, am so ready for fall and need to buy mums and clean out some summer stuff! Hope your day is truly like 'Walking on Sunshine'!

  5. I'm so glad you're feeling better! You've had a rough go of it. So glad you're on the mend. Take care and God Bless!

  6. I'm glad you're feeling better. I know it must have been nice to be up and about enjoying your holiday!

  7. so glad your feeling bettter, infectons are scary.

I have a butterfly bush and love it, it did grow huge and unfortunatly the branches are not very strong and it breaks easily. You can trim them back btw so it is not so big. We have had a ton of hummingibirds on ours along with the butterflys this year. so pretty.

  8. Happy Tuesday to you too!
    Have a wonderful week~

I am glad you are feeling better~Bless your heart you have had your fair share this past few months!

  9. I am happy to read that you are doing better.
My butterfly bush never grew extremely large. I did cut it back each year in the spring. You must just be an excellent gardener, or I am awful.

  10. Morning Sunshine,
So glad to hear your bumps are healing and that you are feeling better. That is such good news,
We have been concerned about you.
Like you said about the Fall decorations, at least you can enjoy the scent of Fall, and it makes you feel like Fall indoors, even if it doesn't seem like it outdoors!! Course, Fall is still
officially 2 weeks away. We just like to get an early start so we can keep that Fall look up for awhile. I am wanting to make pumpkin butter today, and thinking maybe I should wait till it is officially Fall, but I do
have pumpkin leftover from french toast we made that you put pumpkin in the batter. Wonderful, I might add! Well Sweetie, you have a great week.
    Blessings, Nellie

  11. Glad you are feeling better - we've been praying for you. Have a great day!

  12. Hi Lois,
So glad you are feeling better!! have been praying and thinking about you.
It looks like he Colonel has been working hard, we have butterfly bushes and you are so right the bush kind grows so big, we cut them back all the way every year. There is a low growing kind that we have too, and just dearly love them.
Have a great day and week.

  13. Yellow mums. What a lovely thing to do in memory of your dad.
I'm actually all done with painting now (finished Sat. afternoon) and was thinking about posting how everything looks now at the risk of boring everyone silly. I am so happy with the way it turned out. Now we're just waiting for the wallpaper that will go above it.
As always thank you for visiting me and leaving such sweet comments. I really do love it when you visit! Blessings, Loretta

  14. Hi Sweetie! God is good and has healed both you and your hubby!! Praise His Holy Name!! I am SO glad you are doing so much better!!

OHHHH...I want some mums!!! I haven't looked for a few weeks, but the stores hadn't gotten any in yet down here. I'm going back today to see!

    Have a great day!

  20. Hi Lois,
So glad you are feeling better. Sounds like you got a lot done around your home. I know what you mean about the butterfly bushes. I have them too and my husband threatens to cut them down about this time every year! I just love watching the butterflies though.
Have a blessed one. Hugs from TeXaS.

  21. I'm so glad that you are feeling better, Lois! Don't you just love getting landscaping cleared out and looking neat? We need to do some of that this fall, too.

I'm thinking of buying some mums for the front porch in pots and then planting them.

    Happy Tuesday to you too!;)

    Linda C

  22. Glad to know your infection is finally clearing up!!! I read your previous post about preferring labor versus these bug bites...sounds awful!!!!! But seems you are finally on the mend...thank goodness!!! Hope your fall gets better.

  23. I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. I have always wanted butterfly bushes, but had no idea they could get so big and intrusive! Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a great week!

    Hugs, Sharon

  24. MRSA, I'm glad you found out what it is and are getting it treated. I will begin saying prayers for your full recovery. I love mums. They are so pretty. The leaves are starting to turn here and there are mums in all of the flower ships and nurseries. It's such a pretty time of year. I am starting to decorate my home too. I hope you have a wonderful week.

  25. Glad you are feeling better. I am not a big friend of the butterfly bush... I completely understand.

    on Blessed Femina today!

  27. Hi there, I am really enjoying reading your blog... so much that I ended up going back a few posts! :) I know MRSA, had to deal with it while working at a nursing home.. so keep on being careful, as I sure you are. So! Did the putting the wet cellphone into the uncooked rice thing ever work?

  28. I'm glad you're feeling better!

I know what you mean about never- ending work. We're pulling lots of overgrown bushes up too!

  29. Hi Lois,
Glad to hear you're feeling better. I pray the progress will continue.
I got out Fall decorations today. It is a chore.
Outside work is still going strong here. Always so many things to do.

  30. I am so glad you are feeling better , I did no know until now when I stopped by to see how you were doing. Don't overdo it. Make sure you get your rest, my don't I sound like a Mom. Be well. c

  31. Hi there again, just wanted to say that freezing the apple bits in baggies (after mixing with sugar) seems to keep very well, so far at least (only been in there a week so I guess we'll see!) It's all pretty new to me, learning as I go... :)

  32. I am so glad that you are feeling better~I have been praying that your good health returns. I had no idea butterfly bushes could get that big! My daisy's are just blooming but everything else has gone "to sleep". God bless, Rose

  33. Glad your infection is gone!! Butterfly bushes need to be cut back every year (at least that's what I do to keep mine in control).

  34. So glad you are feeling better!

  35. I pray for total healing and recovery from the MRSA, in Jesus'name. Bless you!
