Where Do I Even Begin?

Monday, August 31, 2009

I've been MIA from my blog for a few days, but there's a reason.
It seems that I have come down with a nasty STAPH infection.

Yes, you heard me right.

What started out as a simple bug bite has turned into something horrible.
Something that has caused me so much pain, I'd rather give birth again.
And you all need to know that Michael was 10 1/2 pounds at birth and the epidural never took.

I noticed last Sunday two bug bites, but didn't really pay too much attention to them until Monday afternoon.
They were really "bugging" me.  LOL!

By the time I went to bed Monday evening I knew something wasn't right.
I was in so much pain.
I woke up early Tuesday morning and drove myself to the emergency room.
Thankfully I was in and out in 30 minutes.

The ER doctor said they were just bug bites and put me on an antibiotic.
I repeatedly asked him, "You're sure they're not staph?"
He said, "No, they're just badly infected.  They could turn to staph but you'll be on an antibiotic and will be fine."

Well, Tuesday was horrible.
Sick, sick, sick.  Fever, headache, awful.
By Wednesday I started feeling much better, however, one bug bite was growing.
In fact it was growing so much I started calling it my "third boob" because it was located under my rib cage.

On Thursday I go to my family doctor and show him my new boob
and he's quite surprised to see it.
He says right away it's staph and proceeds to take out a scalpel
and take the top off of this very painful bug bite.

We find out today if it's MRSA.

Let me tell you this is no fun.

I will try to keep you all updated on the continuing drama going on in my life!

  2. Morning Lois,
So sorry to hear about your bites,
I am wondering if they could be spider bites, cause a brown recluse spider can cause some terrible bites and damage. You might want to ask the Dr. if it could be that!! Course, guess they tested for staph and mrsa already. Will sure be praying for you hon, and that this too, shall pass quickly!! Hope you will be feeling good as new real soon.
I have missed you!! Was about to
write and ask if you were okay!!
but figured it was just you were getting back into the new school year swing. Hope everything else
    is going well.
    Blessings hon, Nellie

  3. Oh my! My prayers are with you as you wait for the results of your test. I pray you find relief from the pain. Do you know what kind of bug bit you? Nasty little bugs!

My Michael was a mere 9lbs.15 oz. A little guy compared to yours. I'm glad my epidural took because I had a c-section! Blessings, Loretta
