Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a great weekend!
 It was pretty good here.
I was able to learn all the songs that I needed to BUT...

All I really had to learn were chords.
I was told not to "lead" on the piano and not to worry about playing anything but the chords.  That was very hard for me.
I've never been told not to lead or play the tempo.  Just play chords?
I did my best and the worship leader played his guitar and led as he sang.

I don't want to go into too much detail because I know some people from church read my blog and I don't want anyone to think I'm against the change, but to be honest with you...
I didn't enjoy playing yesterday.

I love playing the piano and this was hard for me.
Let's hope things are different for this Sunday.

And now on to something more pleasant!

I went SHOPPING!

So I will get everything together and figure out how to do this giveaway in a day or two.

Tomorrow I have a guest blogger...the Colonel.
He wrote something awhile ago and I almost forgot about it!
Sorry Colonel.

Well I'm off to spend some time visiting with all of my wonderful blogging friends.

Enjoy your Monday!

  2. i'm so sorry that happened to you. its really a challenge when the gift God puts in us is not appreciated or utilized. bless the leader and put it in Gods hands... something supernatural is bound to come of it ;-)

happy monday - shopping is always very theraputic for me (especially after a bad experience).

  3. I am sorry about yesterday morning~playing chords. I understand~bummer!
We still sing mostly the old hymns~our service is still old fashion. We do have an organ, piano, 2 violins, and guitars playing along.
Our kids just got home from camp so they did most of the specials last night. I so enjoyed that!
I will pray for the situation.
Have fun shopping and happy Monday to you too!

  4. All I know about music is that if the music note is up, I sing a higher note and if it's down I sing lower and if they do a bunch of things I sing confused and hope for the best!
Guess chords alone is a bummer, so I will pray that you get all the other stuff that you can get and more when you play the piano next time!

    blessings and hugs,

    marcy

  7. Hi, I also play the piano. I've experienced playing the keyboard during a Sunday service. I didn't have much time to practice, I just hope the music came out well.
    Nice blog, friend! ~hugs~ :)

  9. Did you talk with the worship leader about how you feel....
I have found that a lot of the churches that have for so long shelved the old hymns, are now bringing them back because the words are more powerful than ...well only those who have been to the two different types of services understand...
I too, will pray about this...it will all work out to bring Glory to God.
Bless you for serving God by playing the piano for every service
    happy shopping and bloggy hopping

your comments about the change in the way you had to play your worship music yesterday does not surprise me. we had to make changes in our church as well and i still don't like the changes. it's hard to accept something new when i don't see the benefit in it. oh well. not much help, am I :O). have a great week. i'll check back in tomorrow for the Colonel's post - looking forward to it actually :O)

  13. Hopefully that was a "one Sunday" thing! I can understand where that was disheartening! I hope it's better from now on!

  15. Oh, I forgot to tell you that Jason did add the molding around our mirrors in all the bathrooms. They were just the plain mirrors. It really makes a difference. I espeically liked what he did in this bathroom because you could see the knots in the wood.

Thanks for your kind comments about the bathroom, by the way! :)

    Hugs,

  17. Hi Sunshine,
Sorry about your weekend with the piano situation. I am a very traditional girl as well, and I sometimes feel the same way when I see changes in our church but usually it doesn't take too long and I get used to it. Just pray for the situation and for your music minister and ask for blessings on him and his ministry and the Lord will not only use it to bless him but to bless you as well. I do think there is a time to speak up about things tho, but we just need to be very careful that we do it in a respectful way and that we have a Godly reason for why we are saying what we see,
not just because we don't like it.
Be praying for ya hon, I know it can be tough.
Looking forward to hearing from your hubby tomorrow.
Thanks for dropping by this morning
    and for making a guess.
    Love ya, Nellie

  18. I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy playing yesterday! I sort of feel the same way when I have to write an "assigned" piece for the church newsletter instead of coming up with something of my own!

Hopefully things will fall into place and you will find joy in your piano playing again soon!

  19. Hi! I don't know much about pumpkins. We grew them one year and we had a couple. I know they spread like crazy so it's good to have them away from your other crops or they will take over. I know you really have to watch them or they will ruin on the bottom. We would put newspaper under ours when they started turning colors to keep them off the dirt. I really don't know if that helped or not. We only had a couple and for us it was not worth the garden space.

  20. Oh, and I am with you on the hymns. I do like worship songs, but I feel the hymns will disappear altogher if we don't teach them to our children. They have such theology and doctrine in them and you are right, they are more God-focused instead of me-focused.

  21. I'm with you on the chords... it's a hard adjustment on a piano players. I pray that the situation will work out. Glad to hear that your hubby will be doing another posting tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

  22. I personally hate it when things that are going well just the way they are, seem to change. I have trouble adjusting. I hope it gets better. I know this is a ministry for you and you should enjoy it.

  23. Change is hard. Shopping helps!
Can't wait to see what your guest blogger writes.

  26. What a cute blog you have! I'll admit I visited your blog because of your name. How nice to see your lovely blog too.
Good luck on playing the piano, my brother and his wife play for their church too. I'm sure they can relate. I use to play the piano, but quit after 10 years because the teacher wouldn't let me play what I wanted to play. Now my daughter plays and does a great job.

  27. Hi Lois,

Thanks for sharing your heart on my blog. I so appreciate your words and empathy.
I praise God for Heaven and for the reunion that awaits us with our Loved Ones.
May the worship of Jesus' Name so overwhelm you this week that no matter what selections are part of the worship set for Sunday, your spirit will overflow with His Praise.

    Love in the Lamb!
