A Day at the Lake...

We are very fortunate to live near a lake, a state park lake in fact, about 5 miles from our house.

But I haven't been all year!

Today I'm going with the Missionettes from church.
And the boy's program is tagging along.
Mainly because most of the leaders have boys that we just can't leave at home!
No seriously, it's a combined outing.
Only all the boy's leaders are working, so we will have to supervise the boys as well.
It always works out that way, doesn't it?

There are no lifeguards at the lake this year.
This had me very worried.
But thankfully, one of our karate instructors at the church is also a lifeguard and he is coming.  I think this is wonderful... that this recent college graduate wants to spend a day hanging out with a bunch of old women and kids.

So I'm off to pick a TON of lettuce to make a nice salad for our picnic.
I still need to bake some cookies and another cake.
It's going to be hot today,
but we have some canopies all ready to go up on the beach
and
I plan on sitting under one all day!

Enjoy your day!

  7. Hey have a great time, that sounds like a blast. I lived literally ON a lake a few summers ago and got to the water twice all year (my work schedule didn't allow me to get there when the park was open), so I know how you feel. ;) Enjoy today, and praying for safety for the boys.

  15. Sure hope you had a lot of fun!! Our cottage in the Smokies was on a lake, but there wasn't any swimming...just canoeing and kayaking! Quite lovely nonetheless!!

YAY for the bounty from your garden!! That's just awesome!

    Have a joyful week, sweetie!

  16. I too live near a lake and have not been yet this year. We just got the camper fixed and got it out to the lake. I walked/jogged 4 miles around the lake and it is pouring rain, so we are really going to go at it tomorrow. It is beautiful and quiet and relaxing there. Enjoy!

  17. Hi Sunshine,
Looks like yall had a wonderful day at the lake, those children look very happy indeed!! Glad you weather the heat, it is a killer outside here!! In fact, we just came in....Scott planted some pink Zinnia's and we went to look at them, they look so nice!! I am so happy to be back inside!! ha
We used to work with 5-6 graders when we started at our church, and then we had a high school bible study for about 4 years, then we worked with single parents and their children, then we worked with college and career age young people and now we work with married couples. Quite a transistion the Lord has taken us thru!! Funny really!!

So how did your lamps turn out,
take a pic and show us if possible.
It is amazing what a new lamp shade can do.

Din Din was really good, I have
been wanting to eat the rest of the shrimp all day but am saving it for din din tonight along with leftover roast pork, thought that would go good with the leftover
blackbeans and rice, and I have to come up with a veggie.
    Have a nice evening hon,
    Blessings, Nellie
