That a library card can expire???

WHAT???

I decided while Michael was in karate last night to drive across the street and go to the library. How wonderful, right?
Well, apparently my library card expired.
And as I was filling out the paperwork for a new one, the librarian told me that
I also owed $4.00 in overdue fees...from 3 years ago.
Thank God they don't charge interest.

Growing up in Queens, NY you have one library card.
You can use this library card at any other library in Queens.
Not so in PA!
When we first moved here 5 years ago, I had to go to our town library...
...which is quite small and old.
THEN I was able to go to the new library in a different town...
...which is really big and new.

But I couldn't get a library card from this nice, big, new library until I had a library card from the old, small library.
Go Figure!

Yesterday was a great day. I slept till 8:00!! I finally woke the kids up at 9:30 to get ready so we could go shopping. Olivia needed a new pair of shoes for work and Michael needed a few things for his camping trip this weekend. After a quick trip to Payless where, thankfully, we were able to get Olivia's shoes and a pair of hiking boots for Michael, we went to Walmart.

Spent way too much money there! And thanks to my new accountant, I know exactly how much money I spent in Payless, Walmart and Subway combined.
Thank you Michael.
He seemed quite concerned, but I needed to remind him that I don't shop like this
every day or every week or even every month.

Michael leaves for his camping trip with the boy's group from church tonight.
I'm going to miss him so much. He's so excited. He'll be gone till Sunday afternoon and thankfully the camp is only 10 miles from our house.

Well that's about all going on here. Not much.
The Colonel is away again this weekend. A huge exercise is going on down at Ft. Dix.
So it'll just be Olivia and I...Enjoy your weekend!!

  1. With the boys away, what a great chance to have some girl time with Olivia! The first time my son spent a few days away from home I was feeing a little anxious. He was with his high school (Harmony Christian School) and they went to a Christian fellowship camp. They weren't allowed to bring cell phones which made me a little nervous but everything went well. I'm sure your son will have a great time!Have a great weekend! Hugs, Loretta

  5. The library system does seem wacky. I had my own run-in with our local library. I would have to PAY for a library card ($25 a year) because I'm not zoned for them. I live .5 miles outside of their "territory" so I have to go to the really tiny library that I am zoned for. So silly.

Glad all is well with you guys. I'm sure Michael is going to have a blast. Enjoy your weekend!

  10. Sounds like a great weekend to do some girl stuff!!!
Our library now has key ring cards so I never have to shuffle through my wallet looking for my library card. We also have self check out. A few years back there was a city wide vote to rebuild the library down the street from where I live. Of course, I voted yes. Unfortunately, it did not pass so a whole redo was done on the original library. It looks really nice, has many more computers, and new books. My only beef is they installed a widescreen tv. For the amount of money they spent on that, they could have purchased more new books.
Enjoy your weekend!!!! I just posted some pics from a day trip I took on Friday. Hope you can stop by!
