Scripture Saturday...

Saturday, April 4, 2009

It's a long one but so good, especially considering so many people are worried about their jobs, worried about paying the bills, worried, worried, worried. Remember that God will honor your faithfulness to HIM!

Matthew 6:25-33

Do Not Worry

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.

  1. I truly needed this today. Thank you for the reminder.

  2. Oh my...did I need this today. I am a worrier. I struggle with this daily and sometimes it gets me down. With all that has been going on lately in my life and as many times as I have read over this scripture you putting it on you blog opened my eyes.

    Thank you!

    God is so Good!

  3. I struggle so much with worry. My family lovingly calls me a chihuahua :) Thank you for the lovely scripture - I need to write this one down and post it everywhere. Even though I know this by heart, it is so easy to take up my burdens again and again - rehashing and forgetting to lay them at the foot of the cross like the Lord wants me to do.

Worry and patience seem to be my greatest struggle. Thankfully God is patient with ME and knows that I am a work in progress! I am so thankful that He is so loving and patient - I am so thankful that He is in my life!
Thank you for this reminder of the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father! I am constantly amazed by His unfailing love!
    Blessings to you!

  4. I believe it is in a womans nature to worry. We have to really rely on God during this time of turmoil in our world today. I have to really make sure I am staying in His presence. I turn on my praise and worship first thing in the morn, I read my devotional before I leave for work and I pray on my way. Things get crazy when I get to work, but I pray every spare chance I get.
Thanks for your post today, it is much needed.

  5. amen amen amen..thank you so much for feeding my spirit with our Father's Word...and helping me to keep my eyes on Jesus...
