Did You Know???

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Who looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box, then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over and then the roll never works right...cutting crooked, etc.

Well, I would like to share with you some information that a friend of mine emailed me. Apparently on all aluminum foil boxes there is something written on the end that says...

Push end locks to hold roll.

Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? And it's not just brand names. I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil that I have and it also has one. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends. I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this! Please let me know if you knew about this!

  1. Whuuuut??? Next thing, you're going to tell me they make sliced bread, too. Hmmmph!

::Lianne prowls to the kitchen to look at foil box::

  2. Well my goodness; I've learned something new this morning! Over the past 24 years, I've dropped that roll out humpteen dozen times and got so irritated! Thanks for sharing Lois. Have a lovely Tuesday!

  3. By the way, Your little 'Welcome House' is cute as a button! Love it!

  4. Well now that is something. I will have to go check mine lol

  5. Hey great tip! I didn't know that, either!

  6. Okay, I am an idiot. I had no idea. Thank you so much for the tip. You are a genius.

  7. huh..what do you know? you're never too old to learn!!

me going to check.. to think i'd used these darn things for years and not even know why they put it there for!

  8. My SIL just told me that wonderful, amazing secret a few weeks ago! She heard it on a TV show or something.
Why don't we know these things?

The only problem is, I tore my box up trying to push the tabs in!

  9. This is so crazy-- guess where I heard about this tip a few weeks ago?---Wheel of Fortune!! Pat and Vanna shared this in their little moment after the game:)

I wasn't paying close enough attention as to why it came up- but there it was!!

My question is why haven't the companies let this be known in any of their commercials over all these years?

    Again crazy!!:)

    Great post, Lois!

  10. I have a very vintage container that i place my foil in but will be checking my plastic wrap to see if the Canadian brands have this..that is SO cool. Thanks for sharing this with us....

  11. And we think men are the only ones who can't follow directions!!! Thanks for the hot tip -- how much aggravation you have saved me!

Thanks for your kind and loving words on my blog yesterday. I know God is faithful...I know He's doing something...and I know it will be for His glory. I appreciate your encouragement.

And I was so happy to see your face back up on my followers list! I figured philipc was you, but you guys are so much greater in person rather than shades of blue!

  12. Your post made me laugh out loud Lois!! There have been so many 'Ahah!!' moments in my life recently that I am embarassed to admit to some of them - but it is so heartening to realise I am not the only one! I put it down to post-pregnancy brain - and I am planning to use that excuse until Baby Kay leaves home!!

  13. I just learned about that a year ago! Isn't that something that so many of us were unaware! Thanks for the reminder because I keep forgetting to do it!

    Hugs, Sharon

  14. You rock! that has to be one of the best things i've learned in a long time. see...it really is the simple things that excite me. thanks for not keeping that to yourself. thanks for passing that along!
you are an AWESOME sister blogger~

  15. OMG! Never saw that before. Thanks for the heads up. I usually end up cutting myself before it is all over with. That may be why I like the new premade covers instead.

  16. Hey! I actually knew this! :)
When Leelou changed my background I didn't lose anything! That was a first! I usually lose at least my blog list. I had copied it and printed it in case it disappeared. I don't know why everything stayed intact this time...Oh, when Julie (my daughter) changed her background recently, she didn't lose her blog list either!
    Have a great day!

  17. Thank you!! I just went into the kitchen and looked at my box, the one that I jerked the roll out of the other day and of course its all messed up now. Guess what my box has that little tab also. Keep passing along these great tips! Have a great day!

  18. I did not know about this ~ great tip to pass along! :)

  19. Good heavens, all these years I've been yanking the roll out and watching the cling wrap go bouncing across the floor...WOW...

  20. Add me to the list of people who never knew this. Isn't it funny how certain things you just 'miss'? By the way, did you just change your blog design? It looks great. I recently did he same thing myself. Just thought it was time to get rid of the snow theme. (Even though there's still lots of snow just outside my door!)

  21. Lois,
I absolutely did not know this!! LOl
I feel so foolish after using it all these years and having it fall out on the floor and thinking there has to be an easier way!!! LOL
thanks for sharing , now I am going to ask my mother if she knows this if not I will have one up on her!!! LOL

Lois I want to thank you for your very encouraging words today, yesterday was a very hard post for me , I have wrestled with this subject for a while, as I would not ever want to offend anyone!!!!
While surfing blogland I have read comments on other blogs where people were feeling so left out . and rejected, and my heart just went out to them.
I want to be very careful that I don't ever make anyone feel that way!!!! I wish there was a way that I could find new bloggers so that I could encourage them to hang in there. because I know how much I enjoy blogging and they could too. Forgive me for going on and on. Thank you for your friendship. Blessings,

  22. Well I can honestly say that I didn't know about it until recently....and I got the same email as you! I was amazed...where had I been? I'm glad you shared it! Obviously there's lots of folks out there that hasn't known this!

  24. I'm so glad you told everyone. I just found this out last year.
Maybe I'm slow but had not heard this till a friend showed me. It makes life easier and I'm all for that. lol

  25. I had no clue! Who has time to read boxes LOL. Thanks so much for your prayers too!

  26. Never ever heard of this. I'm going to check my roll now!

  27. Oh my gosh how funny is that. I wouldn't who did know? I am with Lianne off to prowl the kitchen now.
