Psalms 112:7-8

He will have no fear of bad news;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

His heart is secure, he will have no fear;
In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.

I haven't shared with everyone about my daughter Olivia and her back. Yes, it seems she has inherited some of my problems. But we're not completely sure why.

She started to complain about back pain in December. I had already scheduled an appointment with my spine doctor for both Olivia and Michael for them to be screened for scoliosis, since I have it and it has caused tremendous other problems with my back and my sister actually had corrective surgery on her spine when she was 15. Michael's spine is completely normal. Olivia's has a slight curve, but nothing to be concerned about. However...

My doctor ordered an MRI because of the pain she was experiencing and the results show that she has two herniated discs...which is strange considering she was not injured in an accident or doesn't play sports, unless you consider lying on the couch a sport!

Anyway he was quite concerned that she has these disc herniations so young and without any trauma involved, so we have an appointment on April 7th to meet with a rheumatologist. She's already completed a round of physical therapy and her pain is not as bad as it has been.

When I saw these verses on Angela's blog, it just spoke to me! I will have no fear of bad news! My heart is trusting in the Lord to work all things for His Glory. Right now we're not sure what our "foes" are. But we will one day look triumphantly at them and know without a doubt that our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask of Him.

So if you could mark April 7th down on your calendars and remember my sweet Olivia in your prayers, that would be wonderful.

  3. So sorry that Olivia has to go through this. At least she can get it corrected early in age, and not have to go through what you are now.

  4. Your sweet Olivia is on my prayer list too. The verse you added is a great one. So applicable in many situations.

    Oh, I clicked your follow button... I have been reading your posts since I began blogging so I don't know why I haven't followed before this. I wish I could keep everything in one place so it wasn't so confusing to read everyone's new posts. Seems I have to check Google reader, subscriptions and my blogger each time.

    Blessings to you and your family!
    Kindly, ldh

  5. I will definetly be praying for your daughter.
    You continue praying over her too. Speak life to that back. God tells us to trust and believe and he will give us the desires of our hearts. It is hard to remember that when we are in pain (trust me, I am speaking from experience). You have such a good attitude and I can tell you know who your healer and provider is...with God's help we WILL defeat those foes! AMEN!

  9. Dearest Lois,
    Your dear daughter will be in my prayers!!! This is one of my favorite scriptures that I often quote to myself in times of uncertainty...

    "...but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
    They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint."
    -Isaiah 40:31

    I hope it will comfort you and your precious Olivia as well.

    Hugs & Blessings,
    Miss Jen

  11. What a wonderful reassuring scripture. Thank you for sharing it. My daughter has scoliosis too. I didn't realize as I was growing up, but discovered after I was grown that I have a slight case of it too. I'm amazed at how common it is.

  13. Hi, I had wanted to comment on this post when I was here earlier, but got all riled up : ) over the previous post, because I was frustrated over the whole "follower"s thing too. All that to say, I am keeping your daughter in prayer. I know 4/7 is a long time to wait, so I'll pray also for peace for you all and great grace for her. Thanks for sharing the request...I will be one among many doing so. Good to have you come by my blog!!! This is so cool to connect, especially with dear sis's in the Lord! (hey-my word verification prior to posting my comment s "bless". : )
