Today’s pearls sound as if they’re quite challenging! Don’t worry; I’m sure most of you already have them! We are adding the following pearls to our strand…Provider, Well-Dressed, Wife of a Good Husband and Good Business Woman found in verses 21, 22, 23 and 24. Don’t forget the reason for this week’s devotional…our Revolution!
“She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.”
Provider...I needed some help in understanding this verse. Of course we provide our husbands and children with clothing. But what does “clothed with scarlet mean?” The Proverbs 31 Woman made sure her family was clothed in colorful scarlet so if they got lost in the snow, they could easily be seen. Seeing how the majority of us are not outside during a blizzard, just how can we apply this pearl in the year 2009?
Today we can make sure we are ready for the storms of spiritual battles that arise in our lives. We can make sure our whole family is covered in the “scarlet” blood of Jesus. So when the Father looks at us He sees us through the blood of His Son, Jesus.
“She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.”
Well-Dressed…so we all can’t sew, BUT do we have on the Shield of Faith? Are we wearing our Robes of Righteousness? Do we pray for our husbands daily?
“Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.”
Wife of a Good Husband…we shouldn’t be afraid of a little submission because we know that God will reward us with blessings only HE can bestow upon us. We need to let our husbands have their rightful place of honor as the head of our household. Let others see us give him the respect he deserves…especially our children.
“She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.”
Good Business Woman…again, we’re not only good with the household finances but we know how to stretch every dollar either by clipping coupons, shopping in bulk or working from home part time.
We’re almost done! Tomorrow’s pearls…Honorable, Wise and Kind, Busy and Praiseworthy.
