Show and Tell Friday...

Show and Tell Today I am showing something my son Michael made for me last year at the boy's program at our church. It's a log with room for three candles surrounded by garland, Michael drilled the holes, the candles are a bit crooked, but that's okay...I just love it. Last year I had it as the centerpiece on our kitchen table but this year I'm trying it on the hutch in our kitchen.

When all the boys were bringing their logs into the church to give to their mom's (Royal Rangers meets in a building across the parking lot from church), I noticed all the other boy's logs had Christmas balls hot glued on to the garland and candy canes, etc. I was thinking to myself, "I'm so glad Michael just did the garland."

Well, the guy in charge of the program came and told me that he kept telling Michael to add more stuff to his log, "Your mom will like it." He told me that Michael was very adamant about just doing the garland. I asked Michael about this later and he said, "I knew you would only like the garland and not all the glitzy stuff." Does this boy know me?

I do treasure all the things Olivia and Michael have made me for Christmas and our tree is mostly filled with them! To me this is what Christmas is all about, making something for someone you love. Enjoy your day!

  1. I love that you honor your children like that! My tree is the same. Our girls are 27, 22, 20and 10 and our tree is full of things they made also. The oldest is a little Christmas tree cut out of a styrofoam plate that has the dots from a hole-punch glued on it. My oldest made it in preschool. They delight in their walks down memory lane every Christmas. I'll be showing some of them on my blog when we put up our tree!
    Have a sunny day!!

  2. How touching and remarkable that your son knows you so well! It speaks volumes about your relationship with him. I love that you place such value on the things your kids make for you. I need to be better about doing that. Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. love it! Really love it when your baby 'gets' you! (love your marriage quote button:)

  4. What a fabulous heart warming gift from your son. I think it's more than's something you'll treasure for years to come. Don't ever part with it!!! I Love it.

  8. So cute. I love those kind of memories. He sure knows his mom.
One year when my son was about 10 he went with his Dad to get me Valentine candy. My hubby picked out a cardboard heart shape one...and our son took it from his hand and put a velvet one to his dad and said...Mom will like this one much better! He was right!

  9. So sweet that your son knew just what would please you...I know you must treasure this...
