Wordless Wednesday...

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

We sang this hymn at my father's funeral. We also sang it in church this Sunday, although I could barely sing the words. I closed my eyes and could picture my father singing this song from the pulpit at Bethlehem. So, instead of singing, I just stood in the presence of the Lord knowing how much my father loved this song and how verse three is truly happening with my father right now...I in my Saviour am happy and blest.

Blessed Assurance

Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above, Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest, I in my Saviour am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour, all the day long.

Can't you just hear my father say..."Sing it again! Sing it again!" Amen!
